Swahili African Modern laundry hampers are handwoven by an association of more than 100 rural Wolof women in the West African nation of Senegal. Crafting baskets allows rural women to earn income from the comfort of their community. The artisans hand-weave each of these hampers using renewable cattail stalks bound with salvaged plastic strips procured from a local mat factory.
Because this is a handcrafted item, each will vary slightly.
*By law, containers shipped from Africa are fumigated. Other than the fumigation process, the fibers are not treated with any other chemicals.
